The school offers a Visual Arts program provided by a Specialist Art Teacher in a purpose-built facility. Students are encouraged to develop skills, techniques, and processes to enhance their ideas through painting, drawing, print making, clay and ceramics, sculpture, mixed media, textiles and the study of artists and their artwork.
The program provides a powerful means of expression and communication of life experiences and imagination as well as the critical appreciation of their own work and the work of others. South Bunbury Primary School fosters imagination and encourages creative thinking and problem solving in a positive and a nurturing environment.
- Our school provides a blank studio for exhibiting student work. Every classroom is a gallery where parents and students can view art works all year round.
- As a final piece our year six students are involved in creating a self-portrait on canvas that has become a signature piece for our graduating students. These form a final exhibit at the end of year assembly.
- Students exhibit work in the student showcase.
- Students from South Bunbury are involved in community projects and are regularly called upon to assist in the creation of public art in and around the community. This involves working with practicing artists and community groups.
